It was with some trepidation that I took my first card making class several years ago. After all, I asked myself, how many people did *I* have to send cards to? I don't have that large a group of friends or that many family members.... But after my second class, it didn’t matter, I was hooked, and I was coming up with all sorts of people to give my cards to – first off, almost 150 cards to put into thank you gift packages for the volunteers where I worked.
You see, it wasn’t just the card making I fell in love with – though the creative process of combining different elements such as paper, stamps, ribbons and more, not to mention textures and shapes as well certainly drew me in. No, it was also the idea of what gets written in a card that I really embraced. That I could create a vehicle that someone could use to touch someone else’s life; that my design might be the impetus for someone to reach out to another; was motivating in itself.
And so I keep creating; keep hoping to inspire. I tend towards a minimalist approach in my card designs because in the end, when someone gets a card from you, it is what’s on the inside – your personal message – that really counts. For that reason, most of the insides of my cards are blank – and the outside is the artistic framework for you to work with. However, if you would like a sentiment added to the inside, particularly for those in the “Any Occasion” section, please contact me.
